New You Fitness Checklist

So you’re finally ready to make a serious change and have decided to start a fitness program? Bravo!

I commend anyone who decides to make a lifestyle change that will improve their health and quality of life.

I’ve found that most people begin their journey with the goal of losing weight. Depending on how many pounds you desire to lose, whether it’s 5lbs or 105, it is smart to have a fitness plan.

In this article, I will share with you a few must-haves that will help you motivate and jumpstart your fitness journey:

  1. As mentioned before, a fitness plan is essential. It can be one that you create yourself, or one created for you by a personal trainer. A good plan will outline your weekly goals as far and exercises and diet.
  2. A music playlist is a must, in my opinion. Music gets you going! Think about it, even if you’re cleaning your house, a little music seems to help you really get into to it. It’s no different with exercise. I suggest you create a playlist with 30 minutes of music and make it a goal to workout for the entire playlist…with breaks of course.
  3. What kind of workout equipment do you have at home? There will be times when you don’t feel like getting out and hitting the gym and a few pieces of home equipment is sweet! Jump ropes for cardio, dumbbells for strength training, and a yoga mat are a great start for your collection.
  4. Research suggests you drink half your weight in ounces of water daily to increase weight loss. So make sure you keep your filled, water bottle with you at all times. Water bottles come in a variety of cute styles, and some have infusers for fruit. Buy a water bottle!
  5. No matter where you workout, whether at home or the gym, you will want to make sure you’re comfy. Purchase a few yoga capris, or comfy shorts, and athletic sneakers for cross training, just in case you decide to hit the trails.

This list isn’t exhaustive. There are many other products that you can use to begin your fitness journey, but the items listed here will give you a no-excuses start.

Be strong and enjoy your fitness journey!
